Winter

Situated on the massif of the Southern Alps, Pra Loup is a unique area for winter sports and other activities. A true concentrate of the mountain massifs, the resort is now among the best-equipped tourist destinations. The warmth of the southern spirit is everywhere. Built on a terrace with a panoramic view of the valley, the pretty chalets blend harmoniously with the surrounding larch trees. At Pra Loup 1600, 80 businesses are spread out at the base of the ski-slopes and along the sheltered mall.

Auberge du Bachelard The spectacular Col de la Cayolle is a sightseeing dream for car drivers and motorcyclists alike. After a 30-year closure, Auberge du Bachelard has opened its doors again at long last thanks to Chef Jérémy Vella and his wife. Ubaye speciality treats in store for hungry punters include Ravioles de Fours with a thyme sauce, 7-hour lamb smoked in hay and seared fresh trout. When the fine weather comes around, the kitchen garden offers up plentiful fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables. Barcelonnette and Pra Loup aren’t far down the road, but gourmets can also opt for one of the auberge’s six rooms or top floor suite, cradled by the sound of the bubbling Bachelard stream…
