Coming to the Alps

The Alps are served by three major international airports. The TGV and TER trains connect you to the big cities in the region. Shuttles and coach busses help you reach the villages and resorts – or you can always come by car.

Coming by Air

Marseille

Coming by train

 Main Lines

  • Paris-Gap: 5 hours, 20 minutes (TGV+TER via Valence-Ville)
  • Paris-Briançon: 11 hours, 45 minutes by night train or 6 hours, 20 minutes via Valence
  • Marseille-Briançon: 5 hours

  • The Italian station of Oulx is 33 km from Briançon

Regional Network

  • The TER trains as well as bus services (SNCF) have inter-regional links which enable people to reach Veynes-Dévoluy, Gap, Embrun, Mont-Dauphin, Guillestre, L’Argentière-les-Ecrins-Briançon, Sisteron and Digne-les-Bains.

Coming by Car

  • The A51 and A48 motorways are the main access roads to the region.

  • In France, seat belts are mandatory in the front and the rear. Children under 10 years of age must be seated on child’s seats.

Speed Limits:

  • 50 km/h in town
  • 130 km/h on the motorway
  • 110 km/h on dual carriageways
  • 80 km/h on other roads

Zou! Get to the Snow by Bus

The Southern Alps ski resorts are easily accessible by the ZOU bus (formerly the Navettes Blanches) Every Saturday from the beginning of the Christmas holidays to the end of April, you can travel from the Marseille-Provence Airport or the Aix-en-Provence TGV station to the resorts of the Southern Alps.
