Wood, Textiles, and Fashion

Lovers of carved wood will adore La Fontaine du Cembro, both a studio and shop located in Saint-Véran. There, the Brunets have carried on the savoir-faire of fabricating furniture and objects for daily use and decoration for three generations. In Mont-Dauphin, Sylvie Carbonnet creates men’s and women’s clothing with fabrics dyed by her own hand, using an environmentally friendly process. If you love fashion, make a detour to Marina Castagna’s the Atelier de Couture Artisanale Aniram, in Villar-d’Aréne.

Artisan Collectives

It is in an exceptional place, the former Saint-Donnat church in Embrun, that the Maison de Pays de l’Embrunais has set up shop, including the creations of some 30 local artists, artisans and farmers. In the same model, the Maison d’Artisans des Hautes-Alpes in Briançon  is a place where craftspeople and visitors can interact. All trades are represented here: carpentry, cabinet-making, marquetry, pottery, lamps, sundials, stained-glass, mural painting and fashion.
