Climb to the Jardin du Lautaret
Perched at an altitude of 2,100 metres at the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional des Écrins, in the enchanting surroundings of the Meije massif at Vilar d’Arène, the Jardin du Lautaret is a colourful, open-air botanical reserve. And boasts a bounty of information for enthusiasts! Established in 1899, the fruit of the University of Grenoble’s admirable efforts, it has a collection of more than 2,300 species of plants from mountains and cold climates from across the world, a vast collection of seeds, a fully equipped herbarium and a library of Alpine biology.
