Bérénice

Titus and Berenice have been in love for a long time. Titus has even promised marriage to his queen from Palestine. But as soon as he takes the throne, after the death of his father Vespasian, Titus understands that Rome will never accept a foreign queen to rule by his side. He must therefore choose between love and power and renounces Berenice. Antiochus, Titus' friend and long-time secret lover of Berenice, confesses his love to the queen and decides to leave Rome. But Titus asks him to support and accompany her, which gives Antiochus vain hope.
This tragedy is a love story with no way out. Our two protagonists will heroically accept to follow their destiny without killing themselves.
