Blauvac

Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, Town / Village, Fortified town in Blauvac
  • Worthy of the title of "One of the most beautiful villages of France", Blauvac is located on the edge of a cliff and offers a remarkable view on the Comtat plain, the Mounts of Vaucluse and on Mont Ventoux.

  • The medieval castle, built as a bastide with its inner courtyard and round towers, overlooks the square houses of the village and the Saint Sébastien church, built in the twelfth century.
On the slopes of the hill, the rural chapel Notre Dame des Neiges was built on an old Celto-Ligurian oppidum, a year when it snowed in August. A famous pilgrimage celebrates the event each year.

Towards Methamis, you will discover craft products from Provence at the boutique of Notre Dame de Bon Secours Abbey, where nuns still reside.

Cereals, AOC Ventoux wines and cherries are grown here, and the very secret Tuber Melanosporum, the black truffle, becomes ripe in this fertile land, under the shadow of oak trees.
