This ambitious fresco by Luciano Cannito (a well-known choreographer of Ballet Nice Méditerranée who has performed several of his pieces) is based on the novel Kassandra by Christa Wolf. This great figure of East German literature denounces, against the background of the Trojan War, the propaganda speeches of leaders who are always quick to start wars. Faced with the political lies of those who want to write history by manipulating the masses, women often show lucidity and heroism. This is the case of Cassandra, who possesses the gift of vision but is unfortunately never taken seriously. She senses the tragedy that will soon befall her village (the introduction of television). Nothing can prevent the disappearance of the cultural identity of this small corner of Sicily, not even her love for the young Aeneas. Luciano Cannito offers us a premonitory ballet in which classical, contemporary and folkloric dances intermingle to perfection.
