Dance: Our Living Bodies

Entertainment/recreation, Dance, Various arts in Sainte-Maxime
  • Dancer and choreographer Arthur Perole, in a burning solo, composes an ode to our emotions. As if he were writing a poem in motion, with his body capable of embodying multiple identities, he goes to the depths of the universal feelings of humanity and magnifies them in a cathartic work. When the intimacy of one captures the infinite diversity of self-consciousness, to resonate at the heart of all...

The lyricism of the gesture, the conviviality and humour of the performer vibrates intensely in this minimalist space that he shares with the spectators. Arthur Perole delivers a performance that he gives us to live in close proximity, so to speak in complete intimacy, in direct contact with the pool of emotions that he diffuses. The presence of the musician, Marcos Vivaldi, accompanying the dancer live, underlines his magnetism. Here he waltzes or sketches a slow, glitter tank top or fur jacket, fingernails lacquered in black. A transvestition that conceals nothing, on the contrary. He is the diva and his admirer, the singer and her emotional reconstruction. Slowly, he undulates to the rhythm of his inner tremors, mesmerizing all eyes with sensual twists of the hips or shoulders, giving flesh to our fantastical existences. His face is moved, his hands draw in the air our need for inextinguishable attention, our fears, our ambivalences, our outbursts of monstrosity as much as our romanticism. From sudden accelerations to imperceptible slowdowns, he engages with the audience in a deep, tacit dialogue, but not devoid of self-deprecation. His enterprise, which could be described as mystical, is to let the essential, the very matter of love, gradually emerge.
