  • In 1987 the Alpes-Maritimes region and the town of Tende decided to open a museum dedicated to the petroglyphs of Mont Bégo. The musée des Merveilles in Tende <as inaugurated in 1996. It is a good idea to visit the museum beforeMont Bégo as it helps to understand the petroglyphs in situ. The hike to Mont Bégo takes one day there and back, and visitors to Mont Bégo need to be in good phtysical condition, otherwise they shoucl consider visiting the museu^m only
