  • At the heart of the resort, construction of the church of Valberg began in 1938 thanks to the will of one man, Abbé Dulieux, and ended after World War II. The paintings on the outside by Jean Cassarini present mountain themes with snow crystals, skiers and local flora and fauna. The painted ceilings inside are by Geneviève Mangin: the main theme is obviously the Virgin celebrated by skiers and donors: patron saint of the Mountains. The back was completed when the church was enlarged in 1963....

The back was completed when the church was enlarged in 1963. The church is laid out like a cross. Ceramics replaced the mural behind the altar; they represent the elements typical of the earlier painting. Abbé Dulieux is buried under a marble slab in the church’s side chapel.
