Music and dance : The dance of the sun

Entertainment/recreation, Dance, Classical music in Sainte-Maxime
  • It is a glare, a feat of every moment. Imagine thirty musicians from the Geneva Camerata Orchestra playing and dancing, dancing and heart-rending masterpieces by Mozart and Lully with dancer Marti Corbera at their side. Their performance is overwhelming, unforgettable and makes us believe that everything is possible… even the impossible!

The Sun Dance is a feat. Dedicated by The New York Times as one of the most beautiful shows in the classical world in 2019, it dazzles and hypnotizes all spectators. Welcoming him to the Carré is therefore an exceptional opportunity. The choreographer Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola plunges the musicians into a terrifying situation, almost at the edge of the precipice, to have to integrate movements and displacements in their instrumental play. In return, the Geneva Camerata orchestra offered him all his agility, his musical commitment and his stage presence so that Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and Lully’s Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme would take body, body and soul. Between the luminous composition of Lully and the passion sublimated in Mozart’s symphony, the show fascinates with its composition in living paintings, evocations of universal themes that affect us all: love, abandonment, loss, finitude… The Sun Dance is more than ever an ode to life, mysterious and bewitching.
