Musique : Youssoupha Gospel Symphonique Expérience

Entertainment/recreation, Concert, Gospel in Sainte-Maxime
  • Celebrated on the international stage for the finesse of his texts, the strength of his message of hope and his unifying rap, Youssoupha has chosen to revisit live the best tracks of a career punctuated with gold and platinum records.
At his side, an XXL formation for an exceptional concert: a gospel choir and an orchestra! When the energy of rap meets the deep spirituality of gospel and the power of symphony…

Noir Désir came out ten years ago and his punchlines still resonate. The rapper succeeded in paying homage to the black people and celebrating their power while putting them face to face with their faults, to better exhort them to come out of consternation and advance towards unity. An album out of the ordinary in its themes as much as in its grandiose musical construction where hip-hop, R'n'B, rumba, gospel, electro and even pop music mingle and enrich each other, like a nice mise en abyme of the message of hope carried by the title. Because Youssoupha invented a new genre, the unifying rap song, against hatred and divisions – common coinage of the rap game of the time.
«That’s not street rap, that’s love rap», he writes in the opening of the title Les disques de mon père. In 2023, this love rap takes on an even more unifying dimension. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its masterpiece, Youssoupha invites six gospel singers and the Cannes Orchestra for a live rereading of the album. Gospel for my roots and my light. Symphonic for grace and emotion. My rap for my fight and my strength. It’s going to be beautiful, powerful, surprising and, above all, unique,” Youssoupha promises. He usually weighs his words, so we take him at his word.
