Beautiful and aromatic evergreen tree of the Lauraceae family
of the Lauraceae family, Cinnamomum camphora is native to
China, Japan and Taiwan. It can reach 15 meters in height. -
Its cream-colored panicle flowers are almost invisible in spring and its fruits, pea-sized drupes, are dark blue-black.
In Menton, as in many cities in warm countries, it is used as a tree in line. But the camphor tree is best known for the essence that is extracted from its foliage and wood: camphor, used since the eleventh century by the Arabs for its tonic and antiseptic properties.
