    Chemin de la Pierre:
    The village of Orgon is one of the few places in the world to have an internationally recognised facies. The chalky limestone layers just beneath the surface contain distinctive, characteristic fossils which led to the definition of the Urgonian stage, from the Latin name for Orgon, by one of the founders of palaeontology, Alcide d’Orbigny, in 1850.
