in Villefranche-sur-Mer

  • PRIVATE PROPERTY / NO VISIT

  • Villa Nellcote, built for a banking community stock-holder in 1899 and named 'Château Amicitia', was successively the property of Count Ernest de Brulatour, 1st Secretary of the Embassy of the United States, and Samuel Goldenberg. The wrought iron gates of the house are the work of Victor Sismondini. In 1971, the Rolling Stones rented the villa and installed themselves with their retinue: musicians, wives and children. They recorded the album 'Exile on Main Street' in the cellar of the villa.
