Festival Vis-à-Vis

Vis-à-Vis Festival (High point of artistic creation in prisons)

Cultural, Festival, Artistic performance in Ollioules
  • Dance, theater, music, video, photography... The Vis-à-Vis festival is a unique event in France that makes visible and promotes multidisciplinary artistic and cultural projects created in prisons.

  • Shared creations, common works that emancipate themselves from the simple social mission to be elevated to the rank of work of art.

Wednesday, May 31: Theater "Appât de loup" by the company 1er Acte - Centre pénitentiaire de Borgo
Everything starts from the rewriting of a children's tale with new characters: a wolf, a young man and his grandmother. But when justice gets involved in the tale, the story suddenly has more current and profound resonances.
Who is guilty? Who is responsible?...

Who is guilty? Who is responsible? Where is the moral? Why could an individual be led to act in this way? So many questions that the actors will not answer, giving the audience the power of the sentence.

    Thursday, June 1st :
    > Theater "Du C(h)oeur des femmes" by the Fitorio Theatre - Centre pénitentiaire des Baumettes
Du C(h)œur des femmes is a project that has existed since the summer of 2022, allowing women prisoners to free their voices through a multidisciplinary creative project.
This year, the project is repeated and gives participants the opportunity to take the stage alongside other women from Marseille, artists and professional musicians.
The music will give rhythm and support to their voices while they share their stories, to fight against silence, loneliness, isolation or violence.

    > Theater "L'Autre" by the Totem Company - Digne-les-Bains prison
A look between the young foreign man at the hotel window and the old man from the country. An earthquake and the buildings collapse. The old man persists in making the rescuers work where there seems to be no life. Underneath, a breath, a whispered, sung voice. One will save the other. Each will come out different.
This is the story of a humanity stubbornly united, of an awakening to a different future. It is the story of two men, of several men. The inmates and the professional actors will create a moment of theater from the novel by Andrée Chedid: L'Autre.

    Friday, June 2 :
    > Theatre -Dance "Le Lab'Oratoire" by the Théâtre du Lézard - Draguignan prison
Based on the writings of the Slam workshops carried out during the year, the inmates and professionals will perform on stage mixing contemporary dance and hip-hop, text, music and photography.
On the basis of rehearsals, the participants will improvise and create live sounds to accompany the expression of their words and gestures.

    > Dance "Au nom du rêve" by the Compagnie Humaine - Nice prison
This artistic production mixes two types of creation: dance and music. The choreography will be born from a research of movements, of conceptualization of an experience and the place left to the sensitive.
At the same time, technical and experimental workshops will allow the realization of a collective sound creation at the end of a learning process based on field recording and improvisation.
