A magnificent nighttime display

Set far out in the countryside, the Parc Naturel Régional des Baronnies Provençales is one of France and Europe’s best-preserved areas from light pollution. The reserve’s stunning night sky is characterized by its depth and sheer blackness, comparable to that of Chili – a world reference among astronomers. It is the perfect place to dream away the night hours as you gaze at the stars… But that’s not all: if you keep your ears open, you may well catch the sounds of the many bats, insects, owls and other nocturnal birds going about their business around you.
