At the heart of the Parc Naturel des Écrins, La Chapelle-en-Valgaudemar is surrounded by an all-mighty nature. The resort is particularly renowned for its icefalls, which are formed every winter. You don’t need to be a dyed-in-the-wool mountaineer; the valley offers opportunities for beginners as well as the experienced. Some sites are accessible in a few minutes’ walk while others require a long approach. For downhill ski enthusiasts, the ski area offers infinite possibilities since it’s connected to the three neighbouring valleys. As for cross-country skiers, they have a ski area on site that extends over some 20 kilometres, linking the villages through the undergrowth.
