At the Refuge des Écrins

Ideal for seasoned mountain climbers, the Refuge des Écrins, also known as the Refuge Caron, is THE unmissable place to fully experience the high mountains. There is a pleasant atmosphere like no other in this traditional, typically alpine refuge. Its rustic character removes nothing from its charm. Quite the contrary in fact: during the low season you won’t find food or water here. So be prepared and make sure you set off well equipped: picks and spikes are essential for getting to this secluded refuge.

During the summer, after a long walk along the paths of the immense Parc National du Mercantour, say hello to Catherine, the caretaker at the Refuge de Vens.
