Auron is without a doubt one of the best ski resorts in the southern French Alps. Over 135 km of runs make this the biggest ski area in the Alpes-Maritimes department! You’re free to choose between cross-country skiing and ski touring. Stock up on thrills and slide fast down the tobogganing area or on the skating rink, discover the thrill of speed, drive skidoos and get a feeling of tranquillity as you climb the icefalls. But Auron is also a great resort for discovery: so come and learn ice pétanque – watch out Marseille – or try the boot camp – an obstacle course in the snow which will reveal your competitive spirit , or even a full-size escape game to save the resort of Auron! The village-resort of Saint Dalmas le Selvage just next door is also a must for a skiing weekend in the southern French Alps.

Escape in the Val d’Oronaye

100% nature spot

The Val d’Oronaye Nordic area, located at the entrance to the Mercantour National Park, in the Hautes Vallées of the Ubaye, is the place to be for the perfect holiday in the mountains. Many hiking trails are traced here: cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing and hiking trails in total freedom. For the more athletic, try a trail or a walk on snow in the Alpine settings. And animal-lovers, you can go for a dog sled ride! And of course, for passionate skiers who want to get their fill of winter sports and thrills, there are the 40 km of cross-country skiing trails.

The Queyras in Nordic mode

The athletes’ mecca

Where is the best place to ski in the southern French Alps? In the Queyras with a vast Nordic area spread over several valleys. The areas will delight those of you who love wide open spaces coupled with a real feeling of freedom. The biathlon area welcomes skiers who would love to imitate champion Martin Fourcade. Come and sample the excitement of this unusual activity which blends the pleasure of winter sports and rifle shooting. For cross-country skiing, the beginners who want to become aces can rely on the instructors’ excellent teaching. And if you are really motivated, they might just train you for the “Traversée du Queyras“, a famous race on the national calendar of long-distance events. Something to put your talents as a skier and your skating steps to the test.
