Covering 13,000 ha in the heart of the Camargue, the Camargue National Reserve is one of the largest wetland areas in Europe.
Its vast territory over a single area, located in the towns of Arles and Saintes Maries de la Mer, is fully protected. The originality and international heritage interest of the Camargue Reserve lies in its diversity of habitats and species that occupy it (272 bird species of which 243 are of heritage interest) as well as its ecological functioning.
