4 km from the town of Gap, set against the eponymous mountain, the Domaine de Charance overlooks the Val de Durance and the Gapençais countryside. Entirely dedicated to the preservation and understanding of Alpine plant heritage, it houses the headquarters of the Conservatoire Botanique and the Parc National des Écrins.
Developed, landscaped and reorganized over time, the site has retained all its charms, offering walkers, solitary dreamers and happy tribes alike, hours of beautiful nature. A visit to the terraced gardens is a must. Listed as Historical Monuments, these "remarkable gardens" reflect the richness of local biodiversity. At the height of summer, with its 600 ancient varieties, the rose garden remains the highlight of this intoxicating discovery.
