Saint-Andiol history is recent: indeed, there is no trace of the place said in antiquity. The location of Saint-Andiol located within a triangle bounded by the Rhône, the Durance and the Alpilles was a marshy land covered by water. The village arose in the middle ages. At the end of the 5th century, the Franks settled in Provence and after the baptism of Clovis, the country had to be baptized. It is therefore at this time that an oratory or altar was built under the name of "Altare Sancti Andéoli" to christianize the peasants and shepherds who lived in the houses of "lurking" (mud), which explains that is not found a vestige of that time.
