1700 cultivated plants, a green setting, an open-air book...
Built around the Romanesque site of Mane, the gardens of the Priory of Salagon are the result of an ethnobotanical approach. The 6 gardens created by the departmental museum evoke the relationship between the society of Haute-Provence and its plant environment. Visitors wander from the garden of the simple to the garden of modern times, guided by the thread and scents of history.
- Alongside the rich collections of its ethnological museum, the former priory of Salagon is home to 4 remarkable gardens, bearing witness to the relationship between man and his plant environment.
Nearly 1,700 plants are brought together here, combining ethnobotanical and historical knowledge with a bucolic, poetic setting for delightful strolls.
A place of conservation, these scientifically cultivated areas are invaluable educational tools. The garden of simple plants and village plants and the medieval garden are veritable giant herbariums, where aromatic, vegetable, medicinal and ornamental plants grow side by side. In the Garden of Modern Times, visitors travel around the world before exploring the sensory trail in the Garden of Fragrances.
