Dating back to the 10th century, the Saint Lambert chapel stands on a hill 40 metres above the plain, hidden in an island of greenery near the local cemetery, at the end of a dirt track fragrant with thyme and rosemary.
Built in the 12th century on a hill 40 metres above the plain, set back from the village of Mas-Blanc, the chapel of Saint Lambert is hidden away in an island of greenery near the local cemetery, at the end of a dirt track that smells of thyme and rosemary. The smallest chapel in the region, it nevertheless has a rich and surprising history! Today it is known as Saint Lambert, but its original name was Saint Roman, a holy hermit whose disciples lived in the troglodyte monastery close to Beaucaire. Today, the chapel is open to the public on request from the Tarascon parish priest. Mas-Blanc is part of the Unité Pastorale Sainte Marthe and the parish of Saint-Étienne Grès, and at the end of August celebrates the mass of Saint Lambert, patron saint of this festive end-of-summer festival.
