This covered wash house was built in 1862 by architect, Charles Albert Vasserot.
It comprises three basins: one for color, one for white and one for rinsing. It was a meeting place for Tropéziennes, who came here for their weekly "bugade" (washing).

On August 2, 1991, the renovated building was inaugurated under the name "Lavoir Vasserot", in tribute to its designer, a benefactor of Saint-Tropez and honorary citizen of the town.

The washhouse is now a cultural space hosting art exhibitions. It has been listed as a Historic Monument since July 9, 1981.
