The Jardin de Gaston arboretum, a green gem
This 49,000 m² garden is named after its designer, Gaston Therras.
The Gaston Garden arboretum is a green gem that extends over four hectares. Since June 2004, it offers visitors a tranquil and natural setting conducive to botanical discoveries, relaxation and walks.
Today, more than 150 species of trees and shrubs are on display.
Amongst the familiar trees, you can find trees such as the sweetgum, the ginko biloba (maidenhair tree), the decorative bark birch tree, the nissa (tulepo) and more. Signs planted around trees allow you to easily identify them.
The arboretum also has a volatile rich life, with more than 40 recorded species: black and white swans, peacocks, pigeons, geese Magellan and all kinds of waterfowl.
To promote relaxation, the development of the arboretum has steadily improved since its inauguration: accessibility for persons with reduced mobility, additional benches, a new lawn, new waste baskets and a new pedestrian entrance at the Mas de Cura.
Moreover, access to the arboretum is forbidden to unleashed dogs. Dog excrement collection bags are available to owners.
Ideal for walking, the Garden Gaston paths cover about 1,200 metres. To extend the walk, discovery of the arboretum is part of the green ways.
