The plans for the Waldensian temple were drawn up in 1855 by the architect François Boyer. The building adopts the neo-classical style inspired by Antiquity.
The Waldensian cult is very well established in the north of Italy. The place was frequented by a population of Piedmontese origin, many of whom worked in the hotel industry.
