Office de Tourisme, 13 Cours Maréchal Foch, 13640 La Roque-d'Anthéron
Easy walk between the oak and Aleppo pine forest of the Massif des Costes and the village of La Roque d'Anthéron.
"Qui va piano va sano" (He who goes slowly goes well). This Provençal motto could well be applied to this relaxing itinerary, situated on the site of the world's most famous international piano festival. And while the world's finest piano players bring Florans castle to life every summer, more discreet aesthetes will also appreciate savouring the village's lesser-known treasures, dotted around the surrounding hills, at their own pace. This rejuvenating hike awakens the senses with its panoramic views and heritage jewels, such as Silvacane abbey, whose austere Cistercian beauty simply has no equal. And even if the route is challenging, the harmony of this beautiful setting really makes it worthwhile. The slopes alternate promises of refreshing canals (that of Marseille), shady pine trees, chaotic rock formations (Castellas), surprising medieval ruins and memories of old donkey tracks... all bathed in deliciously pure air and set against the backdrop of the Luberon, Ventoux, Chaîne de l’Etoile and Sainte-Victoire mountains and the river Durance. In short, a pretty pleasurable way to keep fit!
