  • Discover the tree species of the Moyenne Durance state forest, taking advantage of its shade and coolness, to reach the Saint Sixte chapel and its magnificent panorama. A playful and shady path.

  • Departure and parking: Route de Beaufort, parking of the torrent

    1. From the car park, take the road up to the hamlet of Beaufort for 100 m.
    2. Turn right onto the botanical path. The path soon disappears and the path becomes part of the Beaufort ravine. The torrential lava gradually buries the botanical desks that have been set up
    3. Leave the bed of the ravine and continue the ascent in the forest along a pretty path.
    4. At the intersection, take the path rising to the right...

    4. At the intersection, take the path rising to the right towards the chapel of Saint Sixte. Two fords and a few switchbacks later, the views over the Durance valley begin to open up. Look to the left for the Demoiselles rousses, formed from ochre-coloured earth
    5. Once you reach the pass, continue to climb to the right for a few hundred metres to reach the summit. Enjoy a picnic break in the small clearing adjoining the chapel.The clear view allows observation of the Bréziers valley to the south. To the north, the Durance valley can be admired (be careful! The plunging view sometimes makes you forget the proximity of the ravine).
    In the distance, the Pic de Bure is revealed between the mountains of Puy Cervier and Saint-Maurice.
    Go back down the same path to marker N°4 from where you leave the path and turn right. Follow this path to the Beaufort road. Then follow the road down to the car park.
