Top dog walks on the most beautiful beaches in the South of France!

Yes, you can go to the seaside with your four-legged pal in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Make it easy on yourself with the dog-friendly areas on some beaches: discover our selection straight away!

And what is a dog-friendly place?

It’s an establishment, site or park which accepts dogs. Am+lso known as Dogourism, it’s a label which was created in 2007 for the sites and accommodations that accept holiday-makers with their dogs. During the summer season, when there are the most tourists, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region sets up facilities for dogs so that you can fully enjoy your holidays. Your furry companions are welcome on several beaches, but on some only on a leash. And remember to take everything you need to leave the beach as clean as when you arrived.

The Camargue or the Bouches-du-Rhône with the family

Take your lovely companions for a walk on the fine sandy beaches around Les Sainte-Marie-de-la-Mer. The first 2 kilometres on the East side of the beach, just after the seawall, are dedicated to them all year round. In the Camargue, this side of the bay is the wildest, where the shades of blue melt into each other. On summer evenings, take your seat in one of the “paillotes” to watch the sun setting. Near the Vieux-Port in Marseille, right in the middle of the Corniche, head for Plage du Prophète, one of the oldest beaches in the Mediterranean city. A family beach which is dear to the heart of the Marseillais – a lot of people have learned to swim here. The waves are calmer and there’s safe bathing for dogs.

A wander around the Var

Between Cap Camarat and Cap Taillat in Ramatuelle, Plage de l’Escalet beach accepts dogs if they are on a leash. You’ll find the succession of little creeks very attractive. In Bandol, dogs and their owners will find their promised land, with its evocative name: Dog Beach. A stone’s throw from the town centre, this pebble beach offers a wide open view of the Island of Bendor. The more reserved dogs will just love this uncrowded beach! And last but not least, between L’Ayguade and Les Vieux Salins, Plage du Mérou lined with a large green lawn is great for picnics with your mutt. And, icing on the cake, a marvellous view of the island of Porquerolles and the Presqu’île de Giens.

The Côte d’Azur and its fantastic walks

Plage Cros Deis Pins is in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, just after the harbour, and has a dog-friendly area which is accessible from the North. With its incredible view of the creek of Beaulieu-Sur-Mer and its really charming town centre, there’s something for everyone here. In the archipelago of Les îles de Lérins, Ile Saint-Honorat and Ile Sainte-Marguerite islands accept our four-legged friends all year round. On one condition: that they are capable of getting there by boat. The little island of Ile de Saint-Honorat is a haven of peace and tranquillity and the perfect place to walk your dog. Last of all, just next to Nice, Plage du Carras beach also has a dog-friendly area, so make the most of it to enjoy a boat trip with them in summer or winter.
