La Forêt Blanche - Vars / Risoul

The resorts of Vars and Risoul share the ski area of La Forêt Blanche, and are prime destinations for winter holidays. They benefit from a pleasant climate, very similar to the Mediterranean climate and an incredible sunshine (300 days of sunshine per year). 83% of the slopes are located at an altitude of over 2,000 m and allow holidaymakers to enjoy a first-class snow cover thanks to the dry and cold climate. From the top of the slopes, at an altitude of 2,200 m, you can admire an exceptional panorama on the ridge line of many massifs, such as the Écrins, Queyras or Alpes-Maritimes, but also on magical peaks such as Mont Blanc.

At La Forêt Blanche, you will discover numerous terrain parks, natural toboggan runs and play areas, allowing young and old alike to have fun. The ski area is renowned for its backcountry skiing and has 10 black pistes. 185 km of marked trails have been developed and are divided according to their level. The new ski lifts recently installed are combined with an organization come straight from the United States and allow to reduce as much as possible wait time, once the ski pass is in hand, to make holidaymakers have a pleasant stay.

At Risoul, skiers, alone or in groups, can enjoy the slopes that crisscross between the larch trees. It is the most intimate big resort and it has traditional houses with wooden cladding, mountain stone walls and a slate roof. Risoul has obtained the “Famille Plus” label, which guarantees a warm welcome and facilities for the comfort of young and old alike. The resort’s facilities are a real invitation to conviviality. Labell’aire invites you to drop your skis between two descents and relax on comfortable deckchairs while enjoying Wi-Fi.

On the Vars side, holidaymakers ski on large white expanses as soon as the slopes open. The resort is made up of four villages: Saint-Marcellin, Sainte-Marie, Sainte-Catherine and Les Claux. Each has its own historical and architectural heritage. Vars is famous for its legendary speed skiing slope: Chabrières. It is the fastest in the world with its 98% steepness and it is also one of the most famous resorts thanks to its numerous facilities dedicated to freestyle.

VarsPark and Waouland

Composed of 6 freestyle areas and two BoarderCross, Varspark welcomes thrill seekers and riders. The resort has two of the longest freestyle lines of Europe, which measure 4 km. The ramps and bumps follow one another and let the skiers give free rein to their imagination. Some areas have been specially set up on the snow front to allow beginners to learn and test the basics of freestyle on easy modules.

Waouland is the Snowpark of Risoul. Have fun with friends or family on the courses lined with natural obstacles, jumps and banked turns. Beginner riders are welcome and can learn freestyle in complete safety. Experts will also find what they are looking for on new courses, punctuated by mini walls and chains of jib.

The CoolZone is the perfect place to relax and have a drink. In a lively atmosphere, you can watch experienced skiers perform a lot of acrobatic tricks.

Beginners’ Area

At La Forêt Blanche, the trails are designed for everyone. Even beginners can climb to the top of Peyrefolle and enjoy a long descent by hurtling down the slopes.

A beginners’ area has been set up on the snow front so that the less experienced can learn the basics of skiing. From the age of 3, children can learn about snow sports with the French Ski instructors.

La Grande Bleue

The Risoul resort recently inaugurated a new slope: La Grande Bleue. Stretching from Pointe de Razis to the snow front, it is 5 km long. Thanks to a guaranteed snow cover, you are sure to enjoy 5,000 m of pure sledding! As it is marked blue, it is accessible to most holidaymakers. La Grande Bleue is punctuated with slopes and bends, but also with rest areas with exceptional panoramas, which makes it more than just a ski slope.
