Things to do in Orcières if the weather is bad

Ideas of activities for when it rains or snows, or if it’s very cold

Orcières is a fun, warm and friendly resort which attracts families and those who love authentic mountains. And even in bad weather, the resort loses nothing of its charm: spa, indoor activities or foodie breaks… Here, even under the snow or rain, the mountain keeps all its charm!

Reconnect with yourself at the Peau d’Ours spa

It’s even more comforting to go to the spa in bad weather. You are wrapped in a world of gentleness while the mountain outside is covered in mist and snow. In Orcières, there’s an address which is a must for well-being enthusiasts: the Peau d’Ours Spa, a haven of serenity with its wood and soft lighting, is an invitation to a sensory break, with sauna, hammam and a panoramic jacuzzi installed on a terrace with a view of the peaks and the snow-covered forests. Inside, the warmth and the essential oils envelop your body, while the cold stays outside. The centre also offers a beautiful range of therapies and personalised massage, with natural products. A soothing experience, ideal for reconnecting with yourself and enjoying the mountains differently.

Get exercise and have fun at the Palais des Sports

The Palais des Sports d’Orcières is the ideal playground for time with the family or friends. Located in the heart of the resort, this vast 10,000 m2 complex houses something for everyone: a heated pool for a few lengths or fun on the water slide, an ice rink to slide along to music or race, and a bowling alley for lively games. You can also try the climbing wall, squash or fitness, without even putting a foot outside. And if what you really want is a quieter moment, the resort regularly organises screenings at the Le Poom cinema, with cultural programming for all ages. So, even when the snow doesn’t seem to stop, there’s no way you’ll be bored when you come to the Palais des Sports in Orcières!

Warm the cockles of your heart with the flavours of the Champsaur

After the immense effort put into a day of relaxation, it’s time for food! Come and be tempted by the local specialities, the reflection of a generous terroir where each dish tells a bit of the history of the valley. Golden tourtons just out of the oven, melting ravioles du Champsaur, baked oreilles d’âne, fondues or baked cheese to share, tender, tasty Prapic lamb, little creuzets and a tarte du Champsaur with prunes, blueberries or raspberries… Rustic, comforting dishes which suit bad weather. These dishes may seem simple, but they are actually the fruit of a savoir-faire handed down from generation to generation and, in Orcières, several restaurants manage to enhance these flavours magnificently. Head for La Rotonde or L’Ourson for traditional mountain cuisine, La Table de l’Establou for its bistronomic platters and La Chouette Gourmande for its authentic home-made flavours.
