Le Mugel

13600 La Ciotat
Tiny with its three hectares, but vertiginous, proud above the Mediterranean, the Mugel is part of the classified site of Cape Canaille. Not far from the heart of La Ciotat, it harbors botanical rarities, due to the very special composition of its soil and its cliff. It is indeed a "poundingue": a curious natural assemblage of earth and pebbles.

It was in 1982 that the General Council became the owner of this enclave. It was necessary at all costs to protect this Edenic landscape. Wise work has therefore been undertaken with a dual objective: to respect the integrity of the natural environment while securing the site in order to better accommodate the public.

In the future, this development should lead to the creation of a House for the reception of the public aimed at sensitizing the visitor to the environmental problems linked to this fragile site, while revealing the astonishing diversity of the various environments associated with marine world.
