A preserved and relaxing place to discover on foot.
Neighbors of the Gorges du Verdon, the Gorges du Trévans are less frequented and wilder. Discover a preserved and restful place, which can be visited on foot, or even with your feet in the water!
A REMARKABLE NATURAL SITE
In the limestone rocks of the Jurassic, the torrent "l'Estoublaïsse" has patiently carved a vertiginous canyon whose cliffs rise 200 meters towards the sky. These grandiose landscapes have hosted a rich fauna and flora. This exceptional biodiversity, at the confluence of Mediterranean and Alpine influences, is now protected. The gorges of Trevans are classified as a biological reserve, a sensitive natural area and a Natura 2000 zone. The site is home to many species of birds and bats, and remarkable plants and flowers hanging from the cliffs.
A PARADISE BETWEEN NATURE AND HERITAGE
The gorges of Trevans offer an exceptional playground for hiking enthusiasts. The marked paths can lead you to the edge of the Estoublaïsse river, for a welcome refreshing break.
The old village of Trévans, attached since 1973 to the commune of Estoublan, gave its name to the gorges. During your walks, you will discover many vestiges which testify to an ancient human occupation. The hamlet of Valbonnette, renovated with care, and the remains of the old medieval religious establishment of Saint André du Désert, will brighten up your walks.
