A panoramic view of the first coastal mountain ranges!
From this vantage point, the coastal mountain ranges unfold before our eyes. Overlooking the village of Saint-Jeannet, the Baous des Noirs, Saint-Jeannet and La Gaude impose their massive, rocky spurs. Beyond, we can make out the Pre-Alps and their limestone plateaus.
Further east, the eye is drawn to the hill of Bellet, where the chapel of Château de Bellet and its white, pointed shape can be spotted, and then to the first mountain ranges of Nice. Indeed, on the left bank of the Var, the Nice arc is made up of limestone massifs stretching from north to south.
These include Mont Macaron (806 m), Mont Chauve de Tourrette (784 m) and Mont Chauve d'Aspremont (853 m), to the north of Nice. Mont Alban and Mont Boron encircle Nice on its eastern flank. Mont Boron dominates the Bay of Angels and represents a strong boundary in the landscape that is not easily crossed. Three cornice roads had to be built to connect with the eastern end of the Côte d'Azur.
Mount Leuze to the north of Villefranche sur Mer and Mount Bastide to the north-west of Eze also stand out. Even further east, Mont Agel dominates the French Riviera at an altitude of 1,151 metres.
