A touch of turquoise at the confluence of the Estéron and the Var. This ancient 25 ha. gravel extraction zone has been restored, and the lake is fringed by Mediterranean vegetation. This lake, with excellent quality water, is home to pike and carp.
Located at the confluence of the Var and Estéron rivers, in the Alpes-Maritimes, the Lac du Broc departmental park offers a haven of greenery to nature lovers.
In the mid-1950s, a site dedicated to the extraction of aggregates occupied the location of the future park. The cavity dug during the exploitation of the quarry was flooded and became a 25-hectare lake, whose high quality water is home to common perch, mirror carp, bleak and roach. The lake is managed by the Departmental Fishing Federation: you can contact them at 04 93 72 06 04 before casting your line.
A Mediterranean fauna and flora have taken possession of the 47 hectares of the departmental park of the Lac du Broc. The numerous grassy areas cover the pebbles with immortelle and rocket. Spanish brooms invite themselves next to the poplars bordering the lake. Ospreys, terns, and great cormorants have also colonized the area, and can be seen by visitors thanks to an ornithological observatory. In spring, walkers can hear the songs of laughing frogs and southern tree frogs, while in summer the ocellated lizards bask in the sun. At night, the ballet of the bats invites itself in the sky.
Tables and benches have been set up throughout the park for a friendly, gourmet break. A specially designed path welcomes people with reduced mobility. You can also find, in the Parc département du lac de Broc, a sports course and a fitness area equipped with 9 apparatus.
A parking area has been created to the south of the park, and is easily accessible from the north of Carros by the metropolitan road (RM) 6202 bis.
