La Taradel is a protected natural site which overhangs the Argens valley: For ages, the main transport network for the var region has been established in this valley: first, during the romanic time, it was the so called “voie aurélienne” ( the way connecting Italy to the Rhone Valley through Frejus), then during world war II the famous National Road n°7 and nowadays the highway and TGV (high speed train). First settled at the very top, where the oppidum was, local people have gradually chosen lower levels to live. During the middle age they went for the very place where you are standing now- Finally the fertile valley was the ultimate place where Taradeau inhabitants chose to live. The Taradel is not only a site offering an exceptional panorama, it is also the alive testimony of the past ages.
