The Alpines canal is three centuries old. It has two branches, one from Lamanon - Mallemort to Saint-Étienne-du-Grès and the other from Noves to Arles.
The Canal des Alpines, created in the 19th century, is a key feature of the Provencal landscape. These 120 kilometres carry water from the Durance, feeding the farmland of the Alpilles and enabling crops to flourish. The two branches of the Canal des Alpines are state concessions granted to the Syndicat Intercommunal du Canal des Alpines Septentrionales.

The water supplied is unsuitable for drinking or swimming and is used exclusively for irrigation. The banks of the Canal des Alpines, although pleasant, are privately owned. They are therefore not accessible to the public for safety reasons (collapses, maintenance, etc.). However, there is some tolerance on sections that pass through towns, such as Sénas and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.

A haven of biodiversity, the Canal is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora that it is important to respect. Please do not litter.
A true heritage, this work and its teams embody the authentic soul of Provence.

You'll find places to park your vehicle depending on your chosen departure point. It's best to park in public spaces that don't obstruct traffic.
