Mont-Ventoux, mammoth beauty

Nicknamed the “Giant of Provence” and “mountain you can see from afar”, Mont-Ventoux is so famous that everyone has a pet name for it. And here you are at the summit, perched at an altitude of 1,909 metres. Frankly, you could be at the end of the Earth… Everything seems so quiet here and yet so intense: the stark white of the mountain’s limestone cap creates a quasi-lunar landscape and could easily be mistaken for snow. And of course, we simply love the view extending all the way to the Rhône Valley and Mediterranean Sea to the South and the white-tinted Mont Blanc to the North… A stunning, 360° spectacle and fitting reward for the steep ascent.

… in sunny, ultra-protected scenery

Mont-Ventoux is a one-of-a-kind mountain and the best way to explore its every nick and cranny is on foot. A UNESCO and Natura 2000 biosphere reserve, set at the heart of the Mont-Ventoux nature reserve, its varied flora and fauna make it a paradise for nature lovers. With over 1,500 species of plants adapted to a variety of climates, 150 bird species and rare animal species such as Orsini’s Viper, your walk promises to turn into a giant treasure hunt! Challenge-seekers can enjoy taking to the heights with a paraglider or, of course, following in the wake of the Tour de France – a truly mythical experience. The mountain promises plenty of fun for cyclists, mountain bikers and freeriders alike, including a Bike Park featuring 3 downhill runs and pumptrack complete with bumps, jumps and turns. There’s even a chairlift, so all you have to do is enjoy the thrill of the descent.

Easy-going skiing when winter comes around

A Mont-Ventoux village resort, Mont-Serein is a delightful winter sports hub featuring 12 km of downhill slopes where beginners and families can enjoy savouring the summits at the own pace. The kindergarten is fitted with a ski conveyor belt and toboggan run for mini snow fans, while older kids will enjoy the lessons and snowshoeing trails. And of course, budding freestylers will head straight for the snow park! A guaranteed breath of fresh air and fun for all the family – but watch out for the Mistral wind at the summit: Mont-Ventoux’s name comes from the Provencal word “ventour” meaning exposed to the wind.
