Spring

Get your spring off to a good start and make the most of lovely sunny weekends with a carefully concocted sports programme. With trails and the ascension of Mont Ventoux, let sport rhythm all your escapades en Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur! Whether you’re a spectator or a seasoned sportsperson, we’re ready for you!

On the paths of the Trail de Haute-Provence

What about setting off on a large-as-life nature adventure? Try the Trail de Haute-Provence in the Pays de Forcalquier and la Montagne de Lure. Amateurs and more seasoned athletes can pound along the different trails dotted with sublime descents and climbs. Eight courses, eight strengths, eight ways to enjoy your trail en Provence. Two loops are proposed: Les Mourres or Les Bories offer a beautiful digest of the splendour of the Pays de Forcalquier. Are you more into Nordic walking or do you prefer smaller strides? You can choose what you would rather do. Pump up the volume: Marathon de Lure, Cap à Lure and the Ultra de Provence set the tone. A heigh difference from 2,400 to 7,500 metres height difference for the 50, 80 and 160 kilometres to cover and you’ll get your strength from the beauty of the landscapes you’ll go through. You can even take part in an 8-km solidarity trail: walking or running, it’s up to you.

A meeting of extreme sports and contemporary music in Embrun

And in June, Serre-Ponçon is always sunny! A perfect blend of extreme sports and contemporary music, this local festival in the Hautes-Alpes is every bit as good as the big festivals. Set off for 4 not-to-be-missed days in the Southern French Alps for a 100% successful outdoor experience. There’ll be something for everyone: yoga, paragliding, sports for the disabled, kitesurf and many other activities to discover straight away. After a day full of thrills, relax with a programme everyone will approve of: folk music, rock and electro will ring out by the lakeside for more and more festivities.  And you just have to go through the OutdoorMix village for entertainment and relaxation by the waterside!

Gran Fondo, conquering the Giant of Provence

Cycled all year round by thousands of cycling enthusiasts, the roads which link Vaison-la-Romaine to the Mont Ventoux are a must. On spring weekends, the pretty medieval town will kick off this competitive cycle race which has become a legend. With thousands of participants from around thirty countries, the ascension of Mont Ventoux is a friendly but challenging one. The collective effort gives impetus to all the participants and makes this race a great one. From the start to the arrival at the top, 122 kilometres and no less than 3,600 metres of height difference on the programme to challenge the bravest among you. No worries, you can all join in but you need to be in good physical shape. And if the Gran Fondo seems too complicated, try the Medio Fondo or the Piccolo Fondo: 44 kilometres for the shortest and 100 kilometres for the medium-length. Good for muscling your legs before tackling the highest peak.
