Tout pour la lumière

The new show filmed in La Ciotat

A wind of change is blowing over La Ciotat! From sunny landscapes to cinematographic heritage, the town has become the setting for Tout pour la lumière, the new TV series jointly produced by STUDIO TF1, TF1 and Netflix. Musical atmosphere, thrills, and quests for success will rhythm this series, which is going to be a real must!

Ambitious young artists

You just loved the great moments of emotion of TV series like Glee or Un, dos, tres? You’ll be sure to adore Tout pour la lumière, the new daily TV series jointly produced by STUDIO TF1, TF1 and Netflix. The pitch: young artists throw themselves into singing and dancing, with a dream: to make it in the entertainment world. With challenges, unexpected twists, thrills, family secrets and strained friendships, the series takes us behind the scenes of Studio Lumière, a well-known dance and song centre where a group of young artists has formed. This TV series, which will be the fourth daily series broadcast by TF1 alongside serials which have already achieved cult status, including the unmissable Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle should have tongues wagging.

Filming locations

To bring this series to life, the production studied no less than 30 towns before deciding on La Ciotat. You have to admit that the town has everything: postcard landscapes with the sea as the backdrop, bustling squares and charming little streets. Among the emblematic places which will make up the decor: Place du Marché, Rue Michel Simon and Rue Badelon, and also a local bar. But the great star will be, without a doubt, the former Le Lumière cinema. For the occasion, its facade has been entirely renovated, and a recording studio has been created on the second floor. One of the rooms has also been made into a dressing room for the actors. The perfect homage to the history of the place! Some scenes are also filmed in the Belle de Mai studios, where Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle has already taken up residence.

La Ciotat: A 7th art sanctuary

It’s no coincidence that La Ciotat was chosen for filming. The town is closely linked to the history of cinema: it was here that the Lumière brothers developed the cinematograph and that one of the very first films in history, L’Arrivée d’un train en gare de La Ciotat, was shown. Today, La Ciotat continues to keep this heritage alive by regularly organising various cinema festivals and encounters and by valorising historic places like l’Eden Théâtre. Built in 1889 and restored in 2013, it is considered the oldest cinema in operation in the world and regularly hosts screenings and cinema-linked events, attracting the keen and the curious. With the filming of Tout pour la lumière, the town is reinforcing its film-land status. A lovely way to celebrate its history and write a new page under the spotlights!
