Precious fossils of Haute-Provence

If Haute-Provence is renowned for its lovable landscapes, it also seduces by the extraordinary geological richness of its subsoil. At the time when this territory was submerged under an ocean, many molluscs and marine animals lived here. Some have come down to us in the form of fossils. This is notably the case at Digne, where the ammonite slab offers more than 1,550 fossils over a few hundred square meters. Discover remarkable geological sites, classified by UNESCO.
