The Haute-Provence Geopark
The geological past of Haute-Provence has allowed the conservation of many fossils. Marine animals such as ichthyosaurs or sirenians were imprisoned in the heart of the sediments, at a time when Haute-Provence was actually the bottom of an ocean. You can visit remarkable sites such as the museum interpretation centre of the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence or the ammonite slab of Digne-les-Bains.
Museums and heritage
In the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, people have been shaping the landscape for centuries. They have grown small spelt and wheat, led their goats, sheep and cows in the meadows. This meeting between men and a territory has allowed the invention of a heritage worthy of interest. Several museums explore a particular aspect of Haute-Provence. According to your wishes, you can visit the Ecomusée de l’Olivier in Volx, the Musée de la Minoterie de La Mure-Argens, the Maison du Bois de Méolans-Revel…
