The Préalpes of the French Riviera Park
Stretching north-west of Nice, the Préalpes d’Azur were born from the marriage between the Côte d’Azur and the Alps. The landscapes here are wild and bucolic: vertiginous gorges or wide cultivated valleys, forests… Under the sun of the Préalpes d’Azur more than 2000 plant species evolve, including 40 species that are found nowhere else. The fauna is exceptional on the territory of the Préalpes of Azur: species of birds, reptiles and amphibians (Strinatii’s hydromant, Orsini’s viper…) The nature activities are very numerous: one can practice hiking, Nordic walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, canyoning, paragliding, climbing, via ferrata, tree climbing… Men have been present on these lands for thousands of years and have left us an incredibly rich architectural heritage: windmills, grain mills, oppidums, oratories, chapels, churches… The heritage of the Préalpes of Azur will also seduce your taste buds. Markets and grocery stores will introduce you to local flavors: honey and gingerbread, goat’s cheese, lamb meat, market garden and farm produce, olive oil, citrus fruit liqueurs, crystallized flowers…
