The Natural Park of the Préalpes d’Azur
Between the sun and the mountains, the Parc des Préalpes d’Azur possesses territories of an astonishing variety, composed of cultivated valleys, vertiginous canyons, meadows and forests… With more than 2000 plant species, the Park is home to a third of the French flora, including 65 protected species and 40 species found only in the region. The fauna is of exceptional diversity in the territory of the Préalpes of Azur: species of birds, reptiles and amphibians (Orsini viper, Strinatii hydromant…). Nature also offers a wide range of activities: walking, cycling, horse riding, canyoning, paragliding, climbing, sports trails in the trees… The villages and monuments of the Park also seduce the vacationers. During your tourist escapades, you will be able to admire bread ovens, historical milestones, oppidums, wells, fountains, oratories, churches, chapels… Agropastoralism is perpetuated thanks to the work of farmers driven by the love of their land. The village markets and grocery stores will allow you to discover an exceptional terroir: gingerbread, honey, mountain cheeses, lamb meat, fruit and vegetables, farm products, olive products (oil and pasta), citrus fruit liqueurs, crystallized flowers…
