Wines and vineyards

Vines have been cultivated for millennia in Provence, and the vineyards have shaped the landscape. The village of Beaumes-de-Venise is famous for its red wine made from grenache noir, syrah or mourvèdre. You can visit many vineyards in the Comtat Venaissin and taste – in moderation – high quality red, white and rosé wines.

A visit to the Beaumes-de-Venise vineyards is also an opportunity to admire the splendid scenery, with its vineyards and olive groves. The countryside here resembles Tuscany.

Vaucluse Museums and Monuments

Beaumes de Venise is not far from a number of Vaucluse towns renowned for their museums and monuments:

Orange, founded by the Romans in ancient times, is famous for its ancient theatre and triumphal arch.

Avignon is famous for the Palais des Papes, a huge medieval building, and for its many museums.

Vaison-la-Romaine was also a major Roman city, and is home to some important archaeological remains. The ruins of the medieval castle still overlook the village.
