Monuments and heritage of Cucuron

The Etang basin was originally a water reserve to supply the flour mill. Today, the pond is lined with plane trees and has become a meeting place in the heart of the village.

The Donjon Saint Michel is a vestige of the old castle that once protected Cucuron. From the top of the tower, you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the southern Luberon.

Built in the Middle Ages, the church of Notre Dame de Beaulieu has been modified several times. It has a remarkable architecture.

The chapel of l’Ermitage, north of Cucuron, can be the starting point for walks in the wooded hills.

Cucuron: the Luberon on the natural side

The Luberon Regional Natural Park is characterized by its remarkable natural areas. Between vineyards, orchards and forests, valleys and hills, the Park offers visitors a mosaic of landscapes. Walking through the Park, you can admire a rich fauna of 270 species of vertebrates evolving in dry or wet areas, on land, underground or in the sky. Ornithology enthusiasts can observe the Jean-le-Blanc circaet, the Egyptian vulture and Bonelli’s eagle. The Luberon can also be explored on a bicycle. From Cucuron, you can set off on the paths and roads of the Regional Nature Park, to encounter landscapes of great beauty. The villages of the Luberon have all developed their identity, and five of them have been awarded the label of the most beautiful villages in France: Gordes, Lourmarin, Roussillon and Ménerbes, Ansouis.

The Museums in the Vaucluse department

Housed in a 17th century house, the Marc Deydier Museum presents the history of the village of Cucuron. You can discover prehistoric and ancient vestiges, and many old photographs.
