Between the Serre-Chevalier and Clarée valleys, opposite Italy, lie lines of centuries-old fortifications. There are magnificent views, especially of the Ecrins. A number of very accessible hikes and even lakes!
Here we are at an altitude of more than 2,400 meters: Berwick Wall built from Briançon to Galibier, redoubt, military village, battery sites, Maginot line, including a structure for 71 men, Briançonnaises pills, Métro shelters, 1937 telephone exchange, strategic roads and paths... The accesses already used for the blockade of Briançon in 1815 had to be seriously blocked.
