The Canoe Trip: From Roquebrune-sur-Argens to the Sea
Embark on a unique adventure into the heart of the wild with a canoe trip from Roquebrune-sur-Argens to the Mediterranean Sea.
A few kilometers after your first paddle strokes, the Beal dam offers a perfect spot to take a relaxing break and enjoy a swim. Along the Argens river before reaching the dam, you may catch sight of European pond turtles, bee-eaters, or even kingfishers.
The journey continues through peaceful and lush meanders, reaching halfway at the Verteil dam. In the final kilometers, the river widens, and your triumphant arrival at the sea is marked by an exceptional site: the mouth of the Argens. The ultimate reward of this trip? A relaxing swim in either the sea or the river—sometimes with the company of swans.
Highlights of the trip:
Explore a preserved natural site within a Natura 2000 zone at the foot of the Rocher de Roquebrune-sur-Argens
A rapid-free route, requiring good stamina (around 3 to 4 hours of paddling)
Calm and disconnection by canoe
A refreshing swim upon reaching the sea
Return to the Base du Rocher by minibus
Tip: A 9 a.m. departure gives you the best chance to be the first on the water and to spot more wildlife (herons, kingfishers, etc.).
Good to know before your outing:
For ages 7 and up
Must be able to swim 25 meters
What to bring: sun protection (sunscreen, cap, sunglasses), swimwear (swimsuit, towel, water shoes), closed-toe shoes are mandatory, a change of clothes (a shower is available on-site).
We provide one dry container per canoe. Please note: the waterproof seal is not guaranteed 100%, so avoid bringing valuables (phones, wallets, jewelry…). Consider additional protection.
The Base du Rocher is not responsible for any damage to personal belongings.
In case of bad weather, management reserves the right to cancel the trip for your safety.
